iPhone help required

I dropped my phone and it died. First I thought it was the battery, but when I checked to a repairer, they said that the phone is “dead,” and that there’s nothing they can do about it. I just need to back it up and restore the data to a new phone. The guy explained that it has something to do with the “board” which i assume is the motherboard or the logic board. Also, he tried to connect the phone to itunes and it says that the phone is in recovery mode.

iPhone helpI had an old iPhone that stopped working around December last year as my contract ran out anyway I upgraded to a new one, I recently tried to use this phone again to get photos off of it and updated it to the iOS it needed but after I had done that I found a lot of my photos were missing and couldn’t be found on iCloud anymore, I’ve asked around a bit and been told that it’s likely I’ll never get them back as the update would have overwritten the data, these pictures are really important to me as a lot of them are of family and was wondering if you think there’s a solution to this and maybe I could drop the phone off at some point if you think the pictures are salvageable.

I took my iPhone 6S to Apple in London as it doesn’t power on and they recommended me contacting a data recovery company to retrieve the data stored in the phone. They said the problem was most likely the battery needed replacing. Could you help me recover my data?

I have a water damaged iPhone se that was not responsive so I sent it to another data recovery company. I have just been told they are unable to retrieve the data. All I am after is my photos. I am desperate

I have an iPhone 6s plus stuck in recovery mode from a failed attempt to downgrade from the ios11 beta to iOS 10.3.3. I am looking at options to recover some photos taken in the last 2-3 months before I restore.

Hard drive / phone troubleshooting

I have a laptop, which has died and an external drive with a damaged disc and would like to recover the data off both (reviving the laptop if possible?).

I have a WD My Passport that is not registering when I plug into my or other laptops. It appears to have a slightly crack in the casing, which I think happened when it was in a drawer.

I’d like to enquire about some data recovery services please.
I have a 500GB WD Passport external USB drive which as of yesterday evening stopped being able to be accessed. It actually only has about 20GB of data on it When connected the blue light comes on (steady state), the drive starts up but after a few seconds it stops and the light begins to flash and there is no recognition of the drive from my pc. I’ve tried changing the cable, I’ve tried getting access from various pc’s and a MacBook without any joy.

128Gb SSD laptop hard drive failure

640GB internal SATA laptop drive failed. Drive makes initial attempt to power up but a clicking sound is audible and is not detected when using an USB SATA adapter on another laptop.

iPhone 7 is completely dead, will not power on at all after being dropped on a stone floor. Replacement battery and charging dock hasn’t made a difference. I’m not bothered about being able to use the phone again but the data (photos and videos) stored on there are priceless. I’m based in Leeds, please advise

iPhone is pretty broke, screen totally broke/cracked, front screen is also lifted off, won’t charge, won’t turn on.
Would like to retrieve data from phone if possible?

I have a samsung galaxy A3 that has been dropped, it wont turn on and the screen is blank . I have connected it to a computer but it does not recognise the phone. I would like the all photographs and contact numbers retrieved if possible. The phone is old so i am not bothered if the phone is no good after.

Iphone6 – When I turned it on it goes into a white screen with the apple logo and after 1 minute it will switch off. Seems there is a problem with the motherboard. I will like to recover the information.

Phones and recovering data

Here we have some examples of requests for data recovery from damaged phones, courtesy of http://phone-recovery.pen.io/.

I have a liquid damaged LG X Screen. The phone will not turn on. The damage happened at approx 3pm on Saturday 15/07/17 when the phone dropped into a portaloo. It was retrieved within 5-10 minutes. I left the device into my local repair shop at approx 5pm the same day (as soon as I got home). They have been in contact today to say the device cannot be repaired. I have a lot of valuable photos stored on the phone’s internal memory that I am desperate to recover. What are the chances of these photos being retrieved?

IPhone 6 dropped in water. Tried to turn off immediately before putting in rice. Accidentally reset instead of turn off. After 3 days in rice, it won’t turn on at all even when plugged into power. I just want to know if there’s any way of getting photos, notes or anything else off my phone?

Are you able to take data of a phone which does not switch on? iPhone dropped in water, trying to see if I can recover any of the data on it. I am based in Reading, Berkshire.

i factory reseted my windows phone accidentally. can the photos be restored and how much that wil cost me

I took my phone out of my pocket today to find nearly all the apps had gone from the desktop (including those within folders). I can’t see if my photos and videos have gone too because my photo viewer has also gone, as well as the ‘files’ folder. New text messages aren’t showing up. If I go to app manager all the apps say 0.00kb. Worried I’ve lost my photos and videos.

Broken phone screen means no way of unlocking phone. Phone still turns on and is responsive in parts but unable to use it at all. Phone is an LG. Would be amazing if you could recover data especially photos as this happened on the last day of holiday!

Can not unlock my phone – Samsung galaxy S 19000 want my photos off it please.

HDD Goes into Recovery but no further

I have a problem with Windows Boot Manager –
Windows has encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer.
Status : 0xc00000e9

I have a Toshiba DT01ACA100 HDD 1TB where the pins on the PCB for the power have burnt. Is there anyway that you can replace the PCB and get the disk working again.

We have a customer who has had their PC reimaged, and we have subsequently discovered there was 2.5 years of work stored on the C drive. Could you provide some indicative pricing for a recovery attempt?

I have a WD Passbook external SSD hard drive. 500gb. Recently this has stopped working. I connect it to my PC, the power light comes on but the PC does not recognise the external drive. I have tried different PCs and different leads to no avail. Is this something you may be able to help with?

Dell Studio XPS Laptop. Coffee spilled on Key Board, The laptop will not switch on. I would either like the
machine repaired or MS office docs recovered together with photos.

My external hard drive is making very strange noises. I’ve just moved house so it probably has been dropped at some point. My laptop now will not even pick up that the drive is attached.

The USB-Hard drive port in the actual hard drive has disconnected whilst trying to remove the connecting wire.
I can no longer connect or access the device’s contents.
Help with this would be great

I have a toshiba external hard drive. It can’t be read by any device (linux fdisk -l won’t recognise it). I’m afraid the read head is malfunctioning even though it has a tilting light. How much would it cost me to have it fixed?

Recovering lost information

We all hate it when we lose data, sometimes we have a backup so it’s ok, other times we don’t and that when the services of a data recover company come in handy. This post is about recovering lost information – otherwise known as data recovery. To find out more about what data recover is and how it works, go to a site like http://www.recover-deleted-data.co.uk/ which will give you a good and clear explanation.

Examples of data recovery requirements:

searching for missing filesHard drive will not show up on any computer. It has power when connected via USB data cable and can hear the whirring of the power but still not loading on computer or laptops. Have tried multiple computers.

Issue with my external hard drive. Computer recognises the drive but Will not transfer files. Files disappear. I dropped the drive so I fear this was the issue. Currently no clicking sound.
Can I get a quote for how much this may be to repair?

I shorted my old seagate hard drive by powering it up using a higher voltage ac adapter (my laptop one – stupid I know!). I’ve blown the circuit but the disc seems okay.

External HDD not working:
-Maker
I-O data Device, Inc.(Japan)
-Model Number
HDPS-U250
-Problem
My PC does not recognize the HDD.
Although the power lamp of the device is on so seems the devise itself is not completely broken.
Checked the “Device Manager” but the HDD is not recognized.
I have also changed the USB cable but still get the same result.
I would like to recover the data inside the devise.
I have realized such problem when I try to use it recently first time in few months.

My Seagate hardrive having been dropped on the floor, will now only beep intermittently once connecting to my TV and will not function…it does not show it be recognised by the TV its self and offer a connection option on-screen.

My Computer stopped recognising my 32GB SanDisk Ultra 3.0 USB.. The small blue light still lights up when plugged into the computer but it’s not recognised. I’ve tried plugging it into a different computer and it still can’t recognise the USB. It shows no physical damage, and it’s in good condition. The files inside the USB are very important to me and I’d like to recover them all safely.

Drive fell from desk onto floor whilst in a portable drive caddy. Windows Disk Management now sees it as an Unitialized Drive. Drive does not sound normal spinning up – sounds like the heads are stuck.

Help Required with Seagate Drives

Can anyone help me with the following problems? I’ve got a few Seagate hard drives that don’t work and I need the data off of them.

I have a PC that stopped booting up, the primary boot disk was an SSD and the secondary disk was a Seagate Barracuda 2TB (ST2000DM001). After checking further, the PC problem seemed to be an issue with the Seagate disk (if I disconnect the Seagate then the PC works fine). When powering the computer on with the seagate plugged in, it makes a clicking sound. I can’t actually hear the disk spinning up so I’m not sure if it’s just a problem with the PCB or not. The disk should be in excellent physical condition. It’s probably about 5 years old and has been in a fixed installation PC that hasn’t ever been moved since the initial installation. I’m very hopeful that you’ll be able to recover data.

Seagate hdd

External harddisk – when connecting to computer with USB-cable light is activated and you can hear it spin. But you are unable to access it on the computer. Do you think it will be recoverable, and what is estimated price?

I can see the files but I can´t copy them. A message like “The file X is in use and you can´t copy it” appears and it stops the copy.

Seagate external hard drive 3tb.
Grandson plugged in wrong power supply, which I found smoking.
Hard drive did not smoke, or get hot. However, it is now dead.
I assume it’s pcb fuse/diode has been damaged.
Can you repair?

A seagate expansion drive 1tb – The hard drive makes a beeping when connected to a computer – which sounds similar to sounds made when the heads break off/get stuck in other harddrives(a Google search indicated this to myself.) I’m looking for a quote please for the estimated cost of repairing this drive.

I am wondering if you can recover the data from an external USB stick? The casing is off the USB stick, and only the main logic board and chips remain. These parts are intact. I can send an image if it helps?

So if anyone can help – please let me know.

Nokia, Samsung, HTC, iphone Data Recovery

nokia lumia 1020My wifes Nokia Lumia 1020 turned itself off earlier in the week and will now not turn on at all. There is no SD Card slot, only an internal eMMC chip as I understand it.
We would like to try and recover images from the internal memory if it is possible. There are images on there of our daughter from when she was born (Unfortunately the nappies & feeds came before the backup).
Any help would be appreciated.

I have a Samsung galaxy s6 Edge with water damage and wish to retrieve the photos from it. The screen does not work. The battery works but only when plugged into socket supply; I.e. it does not work when plugged into laptop. The phone is insured however I am worried that the data recovery process will void insurance? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Please respond via email (for obvious reasons I do not have a phone at the moment)

I want to retrieve delete messages and Whatsapp messages from HTC mobile phone from December 2015 until now.. I also want call log but only from Feb 2017 until now. Received and calls made please. Any deleted pics too if possible.
Can you let me know if this is possible.

I irreperably damaged my Samsung Galaxy S6 by dropping it in a toilet.
I took it to a phone repair service, however they were unable to fix it. They didn’t tell me what was wrong with it, but did say it may be possible to recover data from it.
I would like, if possible, to receive a quote for how much this would cost.
Also, how would the recovered data be stored, and how would I go about copying it to a new phone?

I have an iPhone 6S. My phone has undergone water damage (when I dropped it into the toilet. It is actually still functioning pretty well as a phone, but the water damage corroded the charging port, so it is just permanently out of battery. To make things worse, I put the phone in rice and a grain has gotten stuck in the charging port, so I can’t even try to retrieve data conventionally.
I’m sure the data can be retrieved as the phone is still functioning, it’s just out of battery.

The phone stopped working and would’nt turn back on I am interested in retrieving the photos from the device and was wondering whether you would be able to provide a quote.

Phone won’t switch on and nothing shows up when plugged into computer

My phone is bust and I have to send it away but am unable to back it up as it won’t register on any computer I have tried. I really need the data from it, could you please advise?

London Hard Drive Advice and Recovery

We are a design studio based in London.
We accidentally delete some folders of our portable Toshiba HDD 600 gb.
We did not format it.
It is possible to recover these files(~100gb)?
Could you give us a quote and timing?

data recovery tips home screenMy external hard drive was dropped yesterday and although the power light still shows when connected to the laptop it has stopped working and makes a beeping sound. I have a seagate hard drive and was wondering if it would be possible to recover the data on it and how much it would cost please.

I have a ADATA HV620 1TB in size .. the problem I have is I cant get it to reconzie on laptop or pc ,, i.ve tried different leads and usb ports , but still nothing according to adata the drives could be missing ..I,ve tried to download from there site but still no joy.. would you be able to have a look at it for me ..and advice on cost many thanks ..

My external Hard Drive (Toshiba) fell yesterday. This morning was working properly but suddenly it has stopped working. The laptop recognizes it once I plug it but there’s nothing inside once I open the folder and it suddenly gets disconnected.

iPhone charging port broken, need data from phone, apple have said they are unable to fix the problem.
I have a Seagate portable harddrive (like this http://www.seagate.com/gb/en/consumer/backup/expansion-portable/ )
Where the cable would insert into the harddrive has become completely mangled – not a chance of a cable connecting (tiny gold connecting pins actually snapped off/dropped out).
Could anything be done to recover the data?

In all the above examples, it is, in my opinion worth contacting either a hard drive or a mobile phone data recovery company for help and assistance is you want to get your data back. My personal choice would be contacting the people at Data Recovery Tips. If you aren’t that concerned about whether you get the data back or not, simple buy a new device and reinstall your programs / apps.

Hard Disk Drive Recovery

6 instances of real data recovery worries from broken hard disk drives in this post, with links added where necessary. For more info, just contact me.

Sandisk Ultra II 480GB SSD failed out of the blue (came home to a black screen on my PC whilst it was on). The SSD does not show up on any PC in an OS or in the BIOS/UEFI. No updates were done to the firmware recently and no issues had occurred until today. Seems to be a sudden failure. The drive is about 18 months old only.

I have a toshiba external tg hard drive with auto back up disabled. It was connected to a MacBook pro while running a script when the MacBook Pro battery ran out and shut down. Since then my hard drive will not work on windows or mac. It calls it a local disk not its actual name. The first attempt gave an Error message of parameters. Subsequent error messages say corrupted and unreadable. It is missing the bar to say usage. When you select the properties, it says 0bytes used when before there was between 250 and 500gb. I haven’t run a check on it or any repairs for fear of causing more damage.

Disk is fully functional. I am attempting to recover data from a previous pc user who has deleted files. Another user has subsequently been set up on the pc along with software installs causing overwrites. Regular undelete programs have revealed lots of overwritten files and very little recoverable. Is this something you can help with?

Boss br1600I’ve left my external hard drive drop on the floor and since then it’s not reading anymore. It’s making a ticking and sound noises.
I’ve tried loads of times and nothing. I had a friend that had a quick look and he said that I should contact an specialist.
I have all of my work and personal stuff in there.
I would like to know if you guys could help me with that.

I have an old Maxtor external hard drive that backed up an old pc that broke. I would like to retrieve the data on it (namely photos and some old business files).
I live in Scarborough, but am in Leeds next Friday at St James’s hospital. I could drop it off after the appointment? Or I could post it – which ever is easiest.

I had two external drives attached to my iMac. I was using terminal to erase/format JHFS+ on disk4 but it couldn’t find the disk and appeared to move on and erased disk3. I have scanned it a couple of times with recovery programs but have not yet taken any action because the files I need most don’t show up. They are *.BR2 and *.VR8 files generated by a Boss Digital Recording Studio BR1600. What are my chance of getting a complete undelete? One of the scans showed up about 700k files but only the easy ones MP3,MP4,Doc,XLXS,Numbers,Pages etc. Also what is the likely cost if it is reversible?

SSD Data Recovery

In this post we look at SSD hard drive recovery services, using a customer enquiry as a question.

SSD hard drive“My laptop recently stopped working, I think it was something due to a little bit of beer being dropped onto the keyboard of my MacBook Pro. I took it into repair at PC world as I was insured however they have been unable to rescue the data. Instead they have returned the SSD drive to me. I was wandering.. there doesn’t seem to be any physical damage to the SSD and I have lots of important university work which I wish to retrieve. Can you advise me further as to the likelihood of my data being rescued. I have been recommended using an SSD recovery service like http://www.dataclinic.co.uk/ssd-data-recovery/ and wonder if you have any idea to how much this is likely to cost?”

The Data Clinic service you describe above is a good one. The company have been operating for some time and have built up quite a reputation as experts in data recovery. I don’t know their exact prices but you can expect to pay around £500 for their data recovery services.

Companies like Data Clinic don’t repair hard drives – instead they retrieve the data from them and put it on something else, such as another hard drive or memory stick. I know that they are a UK wide company with branches in most of the larger UK cities such as Liverpool, London and Glasgow.
