Samsung and Lacie Hard Drives

Here a some of the hard drives that have come into our Birmingham offices for data and file recovery in the last couple of months. The cost of data recovery is usually between £350 and £650 and depends largely on the type of fault the hard drive has.

Samsung Data Recovery
quayside tower, birmingham, home of data recoveryI have a Samsung laptop hard disc model HM321HI that appears to no spin up and a high pitched clicking sound is only coming from it. Are you able to recovery data from this type of device and what are your charges? I am in Staffordshire but can come to Birmingham if needed

Although it’s been a year since the Samsung hard drive was taking ages to be recognized by my laptop, it was working. However I had to turn the cable to a specific position other wise it would disconnect. 2 months ago I dropped it while it was standing on the desk and since then it will not be recognized, also found a repetitive mechanical sound instead of a running fan sound. I took it to repair shop and they said they cannot make it work.

Lacie Data Recovery
LaCie d2 Quadra Hard Disk 2TB smell of burning, then wisp of smoke coming out the back… switched it off. Do you have an office in Hereford and Worcester or do I drive to Birmingham?

I have a LaCie “big” 4tb drive (although I believe the internal drives are Seagate). It seems to have a mechanical failure as there is a clicking noise on start-up and then the drive is not accessible.

PC wouldn’t boot up – when I inspected it, the hard drive was making some mechanical clicking sounds on boot. I used the PC’s built-in recovery tools to perform a test on the hard drive, and it was showing read errors from a number of blocks – I didn’t continue the test to see how many blocks were unreadable in case it caused more damage. I’ve taken photos of the self-test screen, if they are useful: https://photos.app.goo.gl/qQaqe67ra1NTIWAk2. It’s a Lacie hard drive.

Hard Drive Recovery at Risc

Here are the Risc Group we’ve seen several hard drives that have faults that have come into us for a data recovery:
I have taken my WD external hard drive to a local shop, as it was . After testing the device, I was told that it is completely dead. I have import items on the Buffalo external hard drive that I need.
Please let me know if this can be fixed?
I note that you are also based in Haringey

windows vistaSeagate Barracuda 7200.9 400GB hard drive – running Windows Vista, fails to start – IT consultant relative attempted to retrieve data but concludes that there is a physical problem with hard disc.I would like to recover Documents, photos and possibly outlook files.
also have a freecom external hard drive (model SSLBBB) which no longer works – would like to recover photos from it

On Saturday evening I used my 1tb WD My Passport and it worked perfectly fine. Safely ejected it.
Sunday morning I plugged it in again. Was not recognised on my laptop. Was not recognised on my friends’ laptops.
Monday was recognised on a PC. I tried to copy the files. After a while, it stopped responding and it is not recognised again.
I have my 5 years portfolio there, 800GB.
What can I do?

Dropped harddrive and now it cannot be recognised. Also made clicking noise when I plugged it in. Contain 700 GB of photos as well as files important to my PhD.

I have an encrypted hard drive of which has been extracted from a MacBook Pro 2012 model. I hope to be able to extract all files from the hard drive if possible. Is this something you can help with? I am based in the Scottish Borders. Not sure if its best to drop in to your Glasgow Office or send by post? Of course, this is providing you can help recovery the data.

Can images that have been deleted from iPhone 6s Plus (including from ‘deleted items’) and not backed up to iCloud be retrieved?

I have data in a HP-DDS-3 that needs to be converted into a DVD. Please can you let me know price and timescales.

Hard Drive and Phone Q&A

In this post I’ve posted some enquiries submitted to our data recovery team – they make interesting reading and highlight the different scenarios we have that cause us data loss.

Backed my iPhone 6 up before going on holiday, on the last day got slight water damage in the phone and can’t turn it on, lost all my holiday photos and videos and hoping you can recover them

hard drive on fire = lost dataWe have a server which has been infected with a cryptolocker virus. We were in the process of recovering the server using a Volume Shadow Copy when the server removed the Volume Shadow Copy. We are looking to have any files that may have been contained in this VSC prior to the failure

MOTOROLA RAZR I
WILL NOT SWITCH ON
WHEN CHARGING RED MOTO LOGO IS PRESENT ON SCREEN
I NEED A TEXT MESSAGE RETRIEVING FROM PHONE ASAP

Dropped 1TB external hard drive. Continued to work for a while, then started clicking loudly, and eventually failed (disk not recognised).

I have a very old Sony Ericsson T250i that has bricked. We have retrieved the data from the SIm but we cannot retrieve the contacts and messages saved to the phone. What makes it worse is that a lot of the messages relate to the death of our son so have high personal value. Can you help?

1TB hard drive with corrupted NTFS partition. Can you give me an indication of likely cost of recovering data from this partition please. An email reply is requested.

WD elements 1tb. Wont power on when power cable inserted, light comes on for a second as you insert it. Tried alternative power cable but no joy. Hard drive believe to be damaged. No software recovery has been able to locate and info. Please contact me with regards to my options.

I have a Sandisk Ultra Plus SSD which appears to have failed. The drive had been working perfectly, then shut it down (installed a few updates) and 10 minutes later wouldn’t start again – drive not detected.
I’ve tried the drive in another device but there is no sign of life. I’m hoping that the data is still on there and it’s some sort of controller issue preventing the SSD from starting up.
The drive is also Bitlocker encrypted. I only require a few files off the drive, so if it’s possible it all depends on the cost – whether it’s worthwhile doing.

I have a Samsung s6 phone, and my screen went blank, when I took to a phone repair shop, the owner said the phone screen is fine all that needs doing is to reset the phone which will make all my photos disappear. As it will wipe off all data. Can you get the data off the phone before resetting my phone.
